Cannot download MS Teams app to my laptop

I have used the MS Teams app for a few years as part of my MS365 licence. Recently, the app is not working. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled from the 365 account. However I keep getting the message attached and cannot install. Anyone any ideas on how to resolve please?

Thanks

    Hi Gary,

That error message is typically related to connectivity, cached data, or system configuration issues rather than an actual internet outage. You can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Verify connectivity and proxy/VPN settings: Ensure the device has stable internet access and try temporarily disabling any VPN or proxy, as these can interfere with Teams services.
    • Clear Teams cache completely: Residual cache can cause reinstall issues even after uninstalling.
      1. Close Teams.
      2. Navigate to: "%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams"
      3. Delete all contents in this folder.
      4. Restart the device and reinstall Teams.

    • Check for leftover installations: Go to "Apps & Features" and ensure both Microsoft Teams and Teams Machine-Wide Installer are removed before reinstalling.
    • Install the latest Teams version directly: Download the most recent version from the official source instead of the Microsoft 365 portal: https://aka.ms/getnewteams
    • Ensure system prerequisites are met: Confirm that the OS is up-to-date and that required components are installed. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-client-system-requirements
    • Test in a different user profile or device (if possible): This helps determine whether the issue is profile-specific or device-wide.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Burak V.
