I've seen multiple people describe this problem, but have yet to see a solution.
I have a former Skype account that was transferred to Teams. Works fine with the desktop Team software. Trying to get access to it on my Android phone (Android 14). Version 1416/1.0.0.2022415001 is installed. I have attempted logging in both with my username and password (confirmed working by logging in to Teams via a browser on a desktop computer) and with my e-mail address and the code sent to it.
Every time I get this "Sign-In error: Looks like you're not using Teams yet. Check that you've been invited by the org you're trying to sign in to. You can also set up Teams for your org by selecting Create new account."
It seems to recognize that I'm signing in correctly, it just won't connect me to my Teams messages and contacts.
Google AI says "the app is mixing up your personal and work/school accounts", perhaps so, as there is only a personal account and no work/school account at all. I see no option or choice to log in via a personal account rather than a work/school account.
Please help me. I actually do need this for communication with my coworkers when I'm away from the office, it's just not set up as a "work account" or via any kind of "organization". It's just a plain regular microsoft account.

Any chance this phone was purchased from China, or you are using it in China?
Teams mobile app is not available for Chinese users when they use personal account. It only works for organization account.
Was the phone bought in China though? What’s the brand of your phone? Android is the OS.
It's a Samsung Galaxy S23 via Verizon. The service provider decided they wanted to push new phones on us, we accepted, and it arrived in the mail. Why would I have bought it in China? There's no reason for me to have bought it in China. I don't live in China. I'm in the United States. It was probably made in China, like everything else. The label on the back says SM-S911U which Google AI says is "the US carrier variant of the Samsung Galaxy S23". Maybe Verizon bought it in China? Does Teams think I bought it in China?
Not saying you had a reason to buy a phone from China. I just want to make sure that's not the scenario here, as Teams mobile app will run into this error message as well.
I don't think your Teams issue is related to that.
Can you launch a web browser, can you sign into here: https://account.live.com?
If you can, please go to Your info > Sign in preference, and tell me, do you have an outlook.com or hotmail.com alias at all? If not, click on Add Email, create new. create an outlook.com alias. Make it primary when finished.
Then use this username to sign into Teams. See if it takes it this time.
Ok, so I dug up a hotmail account I haven't logged into in years.
Logged into account.live.com.
Sign-in preferences only gives me options to remove existing logins.
Went to "Add email" under "Account username". Under Add an existing email address as a Microsoft account username, I tried that hotmail address and it says "This email is part pf a reserved domain. Please enter a different email address."

You cannot add an existing hotmail address into another existing Microsoft account. That's not allowed.
As I wrote in my last reply, you want to use the Add Email > Create New option to create an outlook.com alias.
I very much did not want to create an outlook.com e-mail address, but I have done so. No change in the behavior of the android Teams login. Yes, I made the new outlook.com e-mail the "primary" in the Microsoft account sign in preferences. No change in the behavior of the android Teams login.
I miss Skype. Never had issues with Skype.
