You're asking whether an Ubuntu 16.04 VM protected by Azure-to-Azure Site Recovery, including the Mobility Service and Azure Monitor Agent extensions, can be relied on through April 2027. Microsoft's current support matrices list Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for both Azure-to-Azure Site Recovery and Azure Monitor Agent. However, current compatibility is not a commitment that support or extension behavior will remain unchanged until that future date. Site Recovery support also depends on the kernel and Mobility Service version, while extension support depends on a supported Linux agent.
Record the kernel, Mobility Service, AMA, and waagent versions; compare them with the current matrices; enable agent auto-update where permitted; perform a test failover; and monitor Azure Service Health and retirement notices. Microsoft does not publish a binding roadmap through April 2027 in these documents, so obtain written confirmation for that date through a Microsoft support request. Plan an OS upgrade as the risk-reduction path.
