Unable to delete Default Directory tenant — stuck bouncing between consumer and commercial support

I'm the sole owner (via personal Microsoft Account) of a Default Directory tenant with no active subscriptions or other users. My ultimate goal is to close this Microsoft account entirely, but I'm stuck in a loop that no support channel will resolve.

What I've tried:

Attempting deletion directly via Entra admin center (entra.microsoft.com → Manage tenants → Delete) — blocked, states can't use personal account.

Accessing the legacy MyApps URL (myapps.microsoft.com / account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com) — this showed two additional unknown tenants tied to international universities that I have no connection to or memory of ever interacting with

Attempting to go to the Azure portal directly — now returns a "deactivated" error

mysignins.microsoft.com — rejected, says work/school accounts only, since the identity involved is a personal MSA

account.microsoft.com/security — checked sign-in activity and connected apps on the MSA side, nothing further actionable there

Settings → Accounts → Access work or school on the local device — confirmed no work/school join exists locally (dsregcmd /status shows AzureAdJoined: NO, WorkplaceJoined: NO, no MDM enrollment)

Cleared local WAM/token caches (Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin cache, Office identity cache, TokenBroker cache) in case stale local state was contributing — no change to the ability to delete the tenant itself. Note: the WAM broker cache (settings.dat under Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy) regenerated/updated on its own after clearing, suggesting some background process continues re-touching the account token cache even after cleanup

Azure "Subscription and account management" free support ticket — got routed away from anyone who could actually address tenant-level state

Phone support (1-800-865-9408) — told this is a "business account," referred to commercial support

Commercial/business support chat — told this is a consumer account, referred back to consumer support

Consumer support — same loop back to commercial

Attempting to close the account directly (account.live.com/closeaccount.aspx) — blocked with a message that I must first leave my work organization before closure can proceed

I'm stuck between two queues that each say I belong with the other, with no one able to actually action the deletion, while account closure itself is gated on resolving tenant membership I can't clear. This is a personal MSA-owned account, not a real business customer, so I don't have a paid support plan. From a security/identity standpoint, it is very disconcerting to see enrollment artifacts, etc. Anything that pulls any authentication related to the MSA seems to trigger this.

What I need: guidance on which specific support channel or process actually handles closure of a personal Microsoft account that's stuck in this tenant-membership/deletion deadlock.
