Session expired. Sign in to comment. I have tried every solution except dropping Microsoft Edge as my browser! Microsoft needs to fix this problem, as it is a big problem with Microsoft Edge.

What steps do I take to avoid getting this session expired message even after I reboot etc.

Work through these checks in order. After each step, try commenting again before moving to the next one.

    1. Clear Edge cookies and cache.
      • Open edge://settings/privacy
      • Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear
      • Select:
        • Cookies and other site data
        • Cached images and files
      • Set Time range to All time
      • Select Clear now
      • Restart Microsoft Edge
Note: clearing cookies signs out of websites.
    2. Sign out and sign back in to the Microsoft account.
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com
      • Sign out completely
      • Close Edge
      • Reopen Edge and sign in again
    3. Make sure the PC date, time, and time zone are correct.
      • Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time
      • Turn on Set time automatically
      • Turn on Set time zone automatically
    4. Update Microsoft Edge.
      • Open edge://settings/help
      • Let Edge check for and install updates
      • Restart Edge after the update
    5. Check for conflicting Edge profiles or stored credentials.
      • Open edge://settings/profiles
      • If multiple profiles are listed, sign out of the profile with the problem and sign back in
      • If the issue continues, remove the problematic profile and create a new one
Caution: removing a profile deletes local browsing data for that profile, including favorites, history, and passwords that are not synced.
    6. On Windows, clear outdated stored credentials.
      • Open Credential Manager from Control Panel
      • Under Windows Credentials and Generic Credentials, remove entries related to MicrosoftAccount or login.microsoftonline.com
      • Restart Edge and test again
    7. If the problem still happens, check whether Edge sign-in is being restricted by policy.
      • Open edge://policy
      • Search for BrowserSignin
      • If the value is 0, browser sign-in is disabled and the policy must be changed by the organization’s IT administrator
    8. If the issue appears only on one network, check connectivity to Microsoft sign-in endpoints.
      • Confirm access to:
        • https://login.live.com
      • If a proxy is used, check it in edge://settings/system
      • If possible, test from a different network such as a mobile hotspot

If the issue continues after these steps, collect this information before contacting support:

    • Edge version from edge://settings/help
    • Active policies from edge://policy
    • Identity status from edge://identity-internals/
    • A network trace from edge://net-export/
    • Whether the account is personal, work, or school

    Hi William Howard,

Thank you for your update. Have you had a chance to try the AI Answer's suggestions yet? If so, please let me know which steps you've completed and whether the issue has improved.

To help narrow this down, could you also clarify the following?

    • Does the message appear only when commenting on Microsoft websites or on other sites as well?
    • Are you signed in with a personal Microsoft account, a work/school account or both?
    • Does the issue occur in an InPrivate window?
    • Do you have any ad-blocking, privacy or security extensions installed? If so, please try temporarily disabling them and test again.
    • Does the issue occur on all networks or only on a specific network?

If possible, please also share your current Edge version from edge://settings/help.

I look forward to your update and will be happy to assist further.
