Activation issue after hardware update

My computer was not upgradable to windows 11. I replaced the motherboard, CPU, RAM and added a new system drive. This was required for the windows 11 (and future) update. My digital licence is linked to my account and the details show the OS Edition: Windows 10 Professional. OS Build: 10.0.19045.7663. After the install of Windows 10 Professional from Microsoft the computer is now listed with OS Edition: Windows Professional and the OS Build: 10.0.19045.6456. Activation does not show the old PC listing to allow for re-activation after hardware change.

It is due to the OS Edition making?

How can I fix this?

Can I go directly to Windows 11 and that will fix the issue?

Hi,

In this case, when you upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, it became an OEM license because you changed the motherboard to which the license is tied. You won't be able to use that same license.

You would have to buy a new license if the Windows 7 keys are not valid to activate on Windows 10 or 11, even after upgrading via OEM license.

OEM licenses are tied to the hardware, so the license is on the old motherboard.

    My computer has been around for many years and originally was loaded with Windows 7 Professional as Windows 10 was released. The system was updated and ran Windows 10 professional.

    I have (I think) the activation code from Windows 7 Professional will that code activate the Windows 10 Professional?
