- Disconnect all accessories, including Type Cover, USB devices, microSD card, dock, and external monitor.
- Connect the original Surface charger and charge for 15–30 minutes.
- Perform a forced restart:
- Hold Power for about 20 seconds.
- Release, wait 10 seconds, then press Power normally.
- Try UEFI again:
- Surface completely off.
- Hold Volume Up.
- Press and release Power once.
- Continue holding Volume Up for 10–15 seconds.
- If UEFI still cannot be reached and the Surface consistently shuts down at the logo, this may indicate a firmware, SSD, motherboard, battery/power, or other hardware problem, rather than ordinary Windows corruption.
- A recovery USB can be created using any working Windows PC; it does not have to be another Surface or USB-C machine.
- Do not immediately use the recovery drive to reset the Surface if important files are stored on it, because recovery/reset options may erase personal data.
Most important diagnostic: If Volume Up + Power also produces the logo and then shutdown, that strongly suggests the problem may be occurring below the Windows operating-system level.
