What's new

  • Dragon Medical One now supports 64-bit Citrix Workspace app for Windows.

    Citrix Workspace app for Windows is now available in 64-bit architecture. Citrix Workspace 7 2603 CR and 2607 LTSR are the last releases that support both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. Newer Citrix Workspace versions are 64-bit only.

    Dragon Citrix extension 126.2.265.0 supports 64-bit Citrix Workspace.

    Dragon Citrix extension versions lower than 126.2.265.0 don't work with 64-bit versions of Citrix Workspace. If you continue to use Dragon Citrix extension versions lower than 126.2.265.0, don't upgrade to any 64-bit version of Citrix Workspace and don't upgrade Citrix Workspace to any version higher than 2603 CR or 2607 LTSR.

  • Dragon Medical One now supports the following text controls in Altera/Allscripts SCM [2347642]:

  • Dragon Medical One now uses a secure HTTPS-based communication channel for Communication Hub, replacing unencrypted HTTP communication to better protect data in transit from interception and tampering. This enhancement introduces SSL/TLS certificate support and secure endpoint configuration, helping strengthen the overall security and reliability of Communication Hub integrations. The change is automatic: you sign in and work as usual, with no day-to-day workflow changes. Existing dictation, EHR integration, and performance are unchanged, including integrations with Cerner PowerChart, Epic Hyperdrive, and other WebView2-based clients. [2483089]

  • Dragon Medical One has enhanced credential security by replacing base64-encoded credential handling with more secure protection mechanisms, reducing the risk of credential exposure and unauthorized access. This security improvement strengthens authentication safeguards and helps align Dragon Medical Once with Microsoft security best practices for protecting sensitive user credentials. [2507451]

  • If you use both Philips SpeechMike and Nuance PowerMic 4, you can now configure SpeechMike physical buttons to trigger the same actions as the equivalent PowerMic 4 buttons. For more information, see Configure SpeechMike and PowerMic 4 to use the same button mappings.

  • As Dragon Medical One LTSR (version 2021.4) reaches end of life and is no longer available after December 31, 2026, the Dragon Medical One installer for LTSR now displays a notification to users that a new version is available and upgrades users to the latest Dragon Medical One version.

Improvements

  • Increased the size of the Move up, Move down, Insert step, and Close buttons when you create or edit step-by-step commands.

  • The Dragon Medical One Installation and Administration Guide is now available on Microsoft Learn. The deployment and configuration guides for Citrix, Omnissa, Microsoft RDS, and double-hop environments are also on Learn. The PDF guides will be removed from the Dragon virtual extensions packages in future versions.

Solved issues

  • Double-hop environments: Thin client endpoints now work correctly with the Dragon virtual extensions and USB redirection in double-hop environments. [2690443]

  • Dictating into a WPF TextBox control no longer moves the scrollbar when the cursor is already within the visible area. [2801172]

  • Resolved issues with TX29 text controls:

    Dragon Medical One no longer inserts undictated extra characters. [2591528]

    Dragon Medical One no longer inserts recognized text at the wrong location. [2723143]

  • When the user dictates into an unsupported WPF field, such as a checkbox, Dragon Medical One now opens the dictation box as expected to prevent lost dictation. [2788641]

  • Corrected the Finnish translation in the Manage auto-texts window. [2736388]

  • Dragon Medical One no longer slows down excessively when using the dictation box in notes with a lot of text. [2769447, 2813022]

  • Dragon Medical One no longer opens the dictation box when users are dictating in Cerner PowerChart. [2095585]

  • The Dragon Medical One Speech Focus SDK no longer releases the speech focus intermittently during dictation. [2781971]

  • Dragon Medical One DLLs are now strongly signed. [2466737]

  • The Privacy Statement menu item now opens the correct localized page. [2794027]

  • The documented admin consent URL for Microsoft Entra ID no longer includes an extra character. [2690904]

  • The instructions for configuring Microsoft Entra ID authentication now include a reference to account linking in Nuance Management Center and a link to the Nuance Management Center documentation. [2711346]

  • The Dragon Medical One installer no longer removes the basic text control settings from the SoD.exe.config file. [2479198]

  • The Dragon Medical One installer no longer truncates text in confirmation dialogs. [2591126]

  • Dragon Medical One's internal noise suppression can interfere with the external noise suppression built in to microphone drivers, resulting in lost audio or lower recognition accuracy. We enhanced internal noise suppression so it works better with external noise suppression. We still recommend disabling external noise suppression features. [2724530]

Solved security issues

  • Dragon Medical One now uses TLS 1.3.

  • Added a catalog file to enable update discovery and package distribution metadata.

  • Added a manifest file to define package configuration, contents, and installation instructions.

  • Enhanced platform security and compliance by ensuring Dragon Medical One uses only approved, platform-supported cryptographic libraries for cryptographic operations. This update aligns the product with Microsoft SDL and FIPS compliance requirements, reducing reliance on unapproved or custom cryptographic implementations. [2554288]

Recommendations

  • We strongly recommend using Microsoft Entra ID authentication. Entra ID provides stronger security through multi-factor authentication (MFA) and modern identity protection capabilities while helping organizations meet security, compliance, and access governance requirements.

Note

If you use Microsoft Entra ID as the authentication method for Dragon Medical One, your users can't use Clinical Content Search or DAX Copilot.

Important information

  • Linux extensions deprecated: For maintenance and security reasons, there are no future versions or security updates for Linux extensions. Use the Citrix native extension for Linux.

  • Dragon Medical One 2024.2 required for formatted auto-texts: Starting November 2025, only users with Dragon Medical One 2024.2 or higher installed can use formatted auto-texts. To enable or disable auto-text formatting for all users in a specific organization, site, or group, configure the setting in NMC.

Known issues

Functionality not included in Dragon Medical One 2026.3

The following use cases and functionality aren't supported:

  • Fields that support dictation at the cursor but require key press simulation for full functionality.

  • Basic Text Control with URL support.

The following applications and text control types aren't supported:

  • Delphi TRichEdit

  • WPF RichTextBox

Automatic device splitting in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops

  • In Citrix Workspace app 2503.1 and 2503.2, Citrix automatic device splitting doesn't work when SpeechMike or PowerMic 4 microphones are connected to client endpoints. Automatic device splitting works as expected with older client versions.

Screen saver not displayed

  • When you use a Philips SpeechMike or Nuance PowerMic 4 device, the screen saver doesn't appear after the configured period of inactivity when recording is in standby mode.

    To disable this behavior, press and hold the left mouse and touchpad buttons on the recording device for five seconds. When the firmware setting changes successfully, the device provides visual and audio feedback. This setting is stored on the device and needs to be changed individually on each device.

Dragon Medical One sign-in screen crashes due to DLL version conflict

  • On some systems, the Dragon Medical One sign-in screen briefly appears and then closes because Imprivata loads older Microsoft C Runtime Library DLLs.

  • To ensure that Dragon Medical One loads the correct runtime DLLs from its installation directory, use the following commands:

    SoD.exe -enableredir

    SoD.exe /enableredir

    This step creates an empty redirection file named SoD.exe.local in the Dragon Medical One install folder, and adds the following registry key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\DevOverrideEnable]

    DWORD value = 1

  • To disable redirection, use the following commands:

    SoD.exe -disableredir

    SoD.exe /disableredir

    This step deletes the SoD.exe.local file and removes the DevOverrideEnable registry key.

Dragon Medical One issues

General issues:

  • Sometimes a crash dump file is created when closing Dragon Medical One.

  • When transferring text from the Dictation Box to the target text control, the target application sometimes displays an error message telling the user that the operation can't be completed because the clipboard is in use by another application. In this case, users can recall the text back to the Dictation Box and try to transfer the text again.

  • On a virtual machine, when you configure the General.EnableHandsFree and General.StartInStandbyMode settings in the SoD.DefaultOptions section of the Dragon Medical One configuration file to True, these settings don't appear in the General pane of the Options dialog box.

  • When working in unsupported applications with Basic Text Control enabled, the microphone icon sometimes doesn't update to indicate Full Text Control when switching to a supported application.

  • Saying press tab doesn't insert a tab in the Dictation Box. It changes the focus to another text control instead.

  • The following voice commands don't work in the anchored Microsoft Word application when the focus is on any other window: press space, press tab, press enter, cut, copy, paste.

  • Deploying Dragon Medical One by using the Windows Installer fails if you don't have admin rights. To install the MSI package, run the Command Prompt as administrator.

Dictation issues:

  • When you use a selection voice command in the Dictation Box after it opens automatically, the cursor focus moves away from the original unsupported application.

  • When the Dictation Box is open and the Anchor the speech focus when recording is started option is enabled (in Options > General), putting the cursor into a supported text control and starting recording doesn't close the Dictation Box on the first attempt. The Dragon Medical One user interface reflects the change of the recording status only after a delay of several seconds.

  • When dictating in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge applications, formatting commands aren't supported.

  • When dictating in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge applications, the commands undo that and redo that aren't supported.

  • When dictating in an edit control and exiting the edit control application, the remaining part of the utterance is written to the Dictation Box in the incorrect order.

  • When dictating over text that contains bullet points, the cursor isn't positioned at the end of the newly dictated text.

  • When dictating in Microsoft Outlook 2019 or newer, the Dictation Box appears. Dictation works as expected in older versions of Microsoft Outlook.

  • When dictating in the WPF TextBox control in Altera SCM, the commands undo that and redo that aren't supported.

Formatted auto-text issues:

  • Dragon Medical One inserts formatted auto-texts by using the clipboard, which means it can't apply context-dependent formatting adjustments like automatically adding white space or adjusting capitalization. To avoid this problem, dictate a punctuation mark or new line before inserting an auto-text, or adjust the formatting and capitalization manually.

  • When inserting a formatted auto-text that contains a table in the Dictation Box, the cursor isn't positioned at the end of the auto-text.

  • When transferring a formatted auto-text from the Dictation Box to Microsoft Word or a Google Chrome/Microsoft Edge text control, the transferred text is highlighted in black.

Limitation with TX29 control on Microsoft Windows Server 2022:

  • On Windows Server 2022, the protected field in TX29 controls isn't detected, which might cause dictated text to be inserted in an unprotected location earlier in the document. If the protected field is at the beginning, you need to manually place the cursor before dictating.

Audio extensions are backward compatible for up to a year. To take advantage of new functionality, upgrade.

Best-effort support

If your environment doesn't meet the minimum requirements, Nuance might have limited ability to assist. This limitation means that Nuance can address most functionality questions, but if you suspect a bug or encounter an issue that requires a technical investigation beyond known issues and fixes, Nuance recommends upgrading to the latest supported version. The following products fall into this best-effort support framework (this list isn't comprehensive):

  • Citrix Workspace app < 1912

Support for third-party environments is valid only as long as the corresponding vendor supports them. Support might also be subject to other restrictions. Contact Nuance Technical Support for details. For more information, see the documentation delivered with the third-party product and supporting Nuance documentation.

When standard support by the vendor stops, Nuance continues support if an issue is specific to the Nuance solution and within the limitations of the vendor’s standard end-of-life and Nuance's policy. This condition means that Nuance can't support issues that are a combination of the vendor’s component and the Nuance solution.
