Sideload Outlook add-ins for testing

Sideload your Outlook add-in for testing in Outlook on the web, on Windows (new or classic), on Mac, or on mobile devices without having to first put it in an add-in catalog.

The sideloading process differs depending on the type of manifest your add-in uses. Select the tab for the applicable manifest. For more information on Office Add-in manifests, see Office Add-ins manifest.

Important

Add-ins can't be directly sideloaded in Outlook on mobile devices. To test an add-in in Outlook on mobile, automatically or manually sideload it in Outlook on the web, on Windows (new or classic), or on Mac. For guidance on testing add-ins in Outlook on mobile, see Test your Outlook add-in on mobile devices.

The process to sideload an add-in that uses the unified app manifest for Microsoft 365 varies depending on the tool you used to create your add-in project. For more information, see Sideload Office Add-ins that use the unified manifest for Microsoft 365.
