What Copilot in Viva Glint does for you

Copilot in Viva Glint provides two AI-powered features to help you understand and act on employee survey feedback:

Feature	What it does	How to access it
Copilot Highlights	Automatically summarizes your quantitative survey results - scores, trends, team differences, and top opportunities - in a card at the top of supported reports. No prompts needed.	Open your Team Summary or Executive Summary report. The Highlights card appears at the top.
Comment summarization	Summarizes employee comments using AI. Identifies themes, demographic patterns, sentiment, and recommended actions from open-ended feedback.	Select the Copilot button, or select Summarize on any comment set within a report.

Manager process for reviewing feedback results

Step 1: Start with Copilot Highlights	Where to find it
Open your Team Summary report and review the Copilot Highlights card at the top. It provides an at-a-glance summary of your survey results. Consider: What are your key outcome scores and how did they changed? Which teams are scoring higher or lower than others? What are your top opportunities for improvement? Step 2: Review Strengths and Opportunities	Where to find it
Review the Strengths and Opportunities section on the Team Summary dashboard. Identify strengths to celebrate and opportunity areas to improve. What opportunity items do you want to explore through the comments? What themes from Copilot Highlights do you want to understand deeper? Select 1-2 Focus Areas to explore for taking action. Quick tips for Copilot prompts

Start with Copilot Highlights.	Read the Highlights card first to understand your quantitative results before diving into comments.
Use Highlights to guide your prompts.	Reference specific scores, trends, or teams from Highlights to write more targeted comment prompts.
Browse ready-to-use prompts.	The prompt guide suggests questions to start your exploration.
Experiment writing your own prompts.	Try using prompts on different topics, survey items, and demographic groups. Rephrase if needed.
Be specific in prompt writing.	Copilot reacts best to detailed prompts.
Bundle requests into a single prompt.	Copilot can't summarize its own summary! Ask multi-step prompts to build to your follow-up question.
Deep dive into a specific follow-up topic.	From the summary, choose one or two insights to ask Copilot for more information.
Keep queries to Viva Glint data.	Copilot in Viva Glint doesn't access data beyond what's on your dashboard.

Important need-to-knows

Know this as you work with Copilot	Details
Copilot Highlights appears automatically.	The Highlights card shows at the top of Team Summary and Executive Summary reports. It updates when you change filters, benchmarks, or settings.
Copilot Highlights sections depend on your data.	You may see up to three sections (Overview, Team scores, Top opportunities). Sections or portions may be hidden depending on data availability. Frontline managers without subteams don't see Team scores.
Comment summarization functions as a chatbot.	Selecting the Copilot button opens a Copilot pane for you to interact with using prompts.
Prompt to get the most relevant summary results.	Include specific question titles, demographic attributes, prescriptive comments, or other available report filters in your prompt.
The prompt character limit is 250 characters.	You see a character countdown as you add your prompt.
Copilot only summarizes up to 8,000 comments.	If you have more than 8,000 comments, consider finding a more specific theme. Choose one highlight from the summary and ask Copilot for more specific comments.
Copilot can't summarize its own summary!	Once a summary is generated, follow-up asks need to drill down on themes in the summary.
Comment summarization is embedded in the reporting flow.	Within any report, a new window opens so you can look at comments. Copilot uses the applied filters to your report.
Copilot only saves within a current user session.	To save the summary, highlight the content, select Save, and copy to a document.
Copilot can't compare comments between employee groups or surveys.	Yet!

Prompt: Summarize the "Microsoft Viva People Success Elements." Then suggest a few concrete actions for me, as a Department Manager, to improve my employee engagement score. Use the comments in the [date/name] survey.

Consider changes and fast follows:

Swap Viva People Success Elements to your organization's core values and then ask Copilot to generate concrete actions to improve engagement scores.
Choose one highlight from the summary and ask Copilot to drill down on that theme.
