Removing an app or add-on from Microsoft Store

You can remove an app or an add-on from Microsoft Store by making it unavailable in Partner Center. Removing an app makes it unavailable to new customers on Microsoft Store. Existing customers who already installed the app can continue to use it.

Remove an app

  1. Sign in to Partner Center.
  2. Select Apps, and then select the app you want to remove.

  1. On the App overview page, scroll down to the Store Presence card and click on Modify availability.
  2. Select Make product unavailable and click on Apply.

Important

After an app is made unavailable, new customers can’t discover or acquire it from the Microsoft Store. Existing customers who have already installed the app can continue using it, and the app isn’t automatically uninstalled.

If you decide to offer the app to customers again, you can repeat steps 1-3 above, click Make product available and click on Apply.

Note

Making an app unavailable does not disable add-on acquisition by itself as it can be linked to renewal independent of the parent app’s availability. To fully prevent new add-on acquisition, you must explicitly remove the add-on.

Remove an add-on

The following steps are the same for add-ons associated with any app type:

  1. Sign in to Partner Center.
  2. Select Apps, and then select the app.
  3. On the App overview page, go to Manage add-ons.
  4. Select the add-on you want to remove.

  1. Confirm to complete the action.

Important

After the add-on is made unavailable, new customers can no longer acquire the add-on, while existing customers retain access. For subscription-based add-ons, existing customers can continue to use the add-on until the end of the current subscription term; subscriptions do not renew automatically and are canceled at the end of the current billing period.

If you decide to offer the add-on to customers again, you can repeat steps 1-3 above, select the add-on you want to offer again, click on Make product available and confirm.
