    Hi @Pieranunzi,Carol L

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your concern about sound notification when someone joins the meeting. I can totally understand how useful this functionality is in a Teams meeting. According your concern, in Microsoft Teams, there isn’t a built in “ding” that plays for everyone when they join from the Teams desktop app or web.

The meeting setting that provides an audible announcement is limited to participants who join by phone (dial in). In Meeting options, it appears as “Announce when people dialing in join or leave.”

If your goal is to be alerted while you’re organizing the meeting, the closest alternative is to enable Teams notification sounds for items like requests to join (lobby) and meeting start notifications in Teams settings under Notifications and activity. To do this, please follow these steps:

    1. In Teams, go to Settings > Notifications and activity.
    2. Under Sound, enable the Play sounds with incoming calls, requests to join, and meeting start notifications option.

While I understand how important this functionality is for your workflow, I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.

In Microsoft Teams meetings there is no setting to play a special “ding” sound specifically when participants join or leave the meeting. Teams does not currently expose a per-join/leave sound notification option in its notification settings.

Teams notification sounds can be managed for general app notifications (chat, mentions, etc.) and device-level sound output, but not for join/leave events in meetings.

To review or adjust Teams sound notifications on macOS, for example:

    1. Configure device sound in macOS: System Settings > Sound, choose the output device and volume.
    2. In Teams, go to Settings and more > Settings > Notifications and activity and choose whether to Use Teams sound for notifications instead of the MacOS alert sound.

These controls affect Teams notification sounds in general, not a dedicated join/leave chime.
