Retroactive billing update inflated 20-day charges from ~$210 to $1,683 CAD without prior notification

I am writing to request an urgent review of a serious billing issue on my Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription.

My subscription includes a monthly usage allowance of CAD 210 (USD 150). To avoid exceeding the limit, I check the billing status every day and have also set a budget alert to notify me by email when monthly spending exceeds CAD 180.

On April 11, I received an unexpected alert email stating that my Azure usage for the current month had already reached CAD 1,683.12. This was a major surprise. When I opened the Azure portal, I found that the daily charges for the past 20 days had suddenly increased significantly.

Please note the following:

  1. This billing cycle started on March 24.
  2. I checked my billing status every day during this period.
  3. The charges were normal and reasonable until April 11.
  4. Before April 11, I did not receive any warning emails about this abnormal increase.
  5. The sudden retroactive change to the daily charges for the previous 20 days is unacceptable to me.

My understanding is that Azure may have failed to record or charge some usage correctly at the time it occurred, and the charges were then adjusted later. I am not disputing that I should pay for services actually used. However, I strongly object to any retroactive billing correction that changes the daily spending history for the past 20 days all at once without timely updates or prior notice.

My request is simple and urgent: please cancel this unreasonable charge immediately and restore my billing to the correct amount.

Please treat this as an urgent billing dispute and respond as soon as possible.
