    Hi @EVANGELIA KOTTA

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding you are trying to log in using the QR code. I’d like to ask a few questions to better understand your situation and assist you more effectively:

    • Are you trying to sign in to Outlook on the web on your laptop and then use your phone to complete sign‑in by scanning a QR code?
    • At which exact step do you see the message asking you to scan a QR code? For example, is it shown after you enter your email address, or after you enter your password?
    • Are you signing in via a browser (such as Edge or Chrome) on your laptop, or through the Outlook desktop application?
    • Do you see any additional text or instructions next to the QR code option (for example, a link that says “Sign in another way” or “Use a different method”)?
    • If possible, could you please provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? You may blur or hide any personal or sensitive information.

Please note that the QR code is typically displayed on the device where you are initiating the sign‑in (your laptop screen). If no QR code is being shown there, it may indicate that a different authentication method is currently selected or required for your account.

Thank you again for your time and understanding. While my initial response may not resolve the issue immediately, I’d like to gather more details about your situation so I can assist you more effectively.

I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.

On a laptop, the QR code is shown inside the app or web page that is asking for it; it is not a separate file on the device.

For Microsoft sign‑in scenarios, there are two common places where a QR code appears:

    1. Phone Link (linking Android phone to Windows 10/11 PC)
If the QR code prompt is from the Phone Link app:
      1. On the laptop, open Phone Link.
      2. Start the setup/linking process.
      3. The app will display a QR code in its own window.
      4. On the Android phone, open Link to Windows and choose the option to scan the QR code, then point the camera at the QR code on the laptop screen.
If the QR code does not appear, or the window is blank, follow the troubleshooting steps:
      • Make sure the PC is running Windows 10 or Windows 11 (Phone Link is only available there).
      • Ensure both PC and phone are turned on and on the same Wi‑Fi network.
      • If the app asks whether there is a QR code on the PC, allow camera permissions on the phone so it can scan.
      • If codes do not match or setup fails several times, close and reopen Phone Link on the PC and restart setup; it will then prompt to accept permissions instead of matching codes.
    2. Microsoft Authenticator (work or school account)
If the QR code prompt is for adding a work or school account to Microsoft Authenticator:
      1. On the laptop, go to the Security info page for the work or school account at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
      2. Choose Add sign-in methodMicrosoft AuthenticatorAddNext.
      3. A QR code will appear on the laptop screen.
      4. On the phone, open Microsoft Authenticator, tap the + icon → Add accountWork or school accountScan a QR code, then scan the QR code shown on the laptop.
      5. If the camera cannot be used, select Can’t scan the image on the laptop and Enter code manually in the app, then follow the on‑screen instructions.

If no QR code is visible, ensure the correct app or security page is open on the laptop and that the setup flow has been started there; the QR code will only appear inside that flow and not elsewhere on the device.
