Samsung Gallery is set properly to sync and back up to OneDrive, [Moderation note: PII removed]@outlook.com. When tapping Onedrive icon, On is toggled, Sync Now "Last synced 02-17, 6:57pm. I have clicked Sync Now, multiple times, the photos from Feb 18 to now are not in the OneDrive. Confusion of files is also a problem; OneDrive, instruction I tried to follow said the was a file Photos, I didn't a file Photos, so I created one, there is nothing in it. Now I have Photos, Pictures, Videos. Attached are screen shot of each folder of relevance, sorted by Date Taken. There are no photos since 02/17, I have check all of the other folders, no new photos/pictures/videos.

However when once today when I clicked on backup it backed up to Google instead of OneDrive, which is set. I unset Onedrive, turn phone on and off, went to turn OneDrive on and it was still active. No photos since 02-17.

    Hi, Deb Haug

This sounds less like a folder-location issue and more like the Gallery/OneDrive sync job is stuck in the background, especially since it still shows the old “Last synced” date. OneDrive also notes that Android uploads may stop if the app is closed, background activity is restricted, storage is full/frozen, or the app data is stuck.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

It is recommended that you first update Samsung Gallery, Samsung Cloud, and OneDrive from the Galaxy Store/Play Store, then restart the phone. After that, go to Settings > Apps > OneDrive > Battery and set it to Unrestricted, then allow background data/mobile data usage. Also open OneDrive and leave it running for a while instead of swiping it closed, as uploads may not continue properly if the app is closed.

If it still stays stuck on 02/17, it is suggested that you clear the cache for Gallery, OneDrive, Samsung Cloud, and Samsung Account, then force stop and reopen them. If needed, clear OneDrive data too, but be prepared to sign back in and recheck backup settings afterward.

Also check Microsoft storage in OneDrive. If the account is full or frozen, new photos will not upload.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

Follow these steps to get Samsung Gallery syncing to OneDrive again and to understand the missing photos after 02/17:

    1. Confirm Samsung Gallery is actually connected to OneDrive personal
      • Samsung Gallery only works with OneDrive personal accounts, not work or school accounts.
      • In Gallery app settings, ensure it is connected to the correct personal OneDrive account and shows as synced.
      • If you see a “Something went wrong” message at any point, close Gallery and start the connection again, making sure all requested permissions are granted.
    2. Check that the right albums are selected to sync
      • On the phone, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud > Gallery > Albums to sync.
      • Choose All albums or explicitly select the albums where the new photos (after 02/17) are stored.
      • Only the albums selected here will sync to OneDrive. If new photos are in an album that is not selected, they will not appear in OneDrive.
    3. Understand folder names in OneDrive
      • When Samsung Gallery syncs, photos and videos go into the Samsung Gallery/Camera Roll structure in OneDrive; they do not depend on a manually created Photos folder.
      • Creating a new Photos folder in OneDrive will not make Samsung Gallery upload into that folder automatically. It is normal for that folder to remain empty if created manually.
      • Continue to check existing Pictures / Camera Roll / Videos locations in OneDrive for the synced content.
    4. Check file size limits
    5. Make sure OneDrive camera upload is not conflicting
      • Open the OneDrive app on Android.
      • Tap the profile picture > Settings > Camera upload.
      • Either:
        • Turn Camera upload off if relying on Samsung Gallery sync only, or
        • Leave it on and let OneDrive handle camera upload directly.
      • If OneDrive camera upload is used, ensure:
        • Camera upload toggle is on.
        • Camera upload account is the same personal account used in Samsung Gallery.
        • Upload using includes mobile network if not always on Wi‑Fi.
        • Upload only when charging is not checked (if immediate upload is expected).
        • Include videos is on if videos are missing.
    6. Address the Google Photos backup confusion
      • If tapping backup sometimes sends photos to Google instead of OneDrive, that indicates Google Photos backup is also enabled.
      • In Android settings or Google Photos, turn off Google Photos backup if only OneDrive/Samsung Gallery should be used. This avoids confusion about where new photos are going.
    7. If sync still does not progress beyond 02/17
      • Disconnect Samsung Gallery from OneDrive and reconnect:
        1. On a browser, open Microsoft account Additional security options and remove Samsung Cloud permissions.
        2. On the phone, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts.
        3. Select the Samsung account > Apps and services > Linked accounts > My profile > Linked accounts and unlink the Microsoft account.
        4. Then, in the Gallery app settings, tap Sync to OneDrive again and follow the prompts to reconnect.
      • After reconnecting, Samsung Gallery may re‑upload photos that were already in OneDrive; this is expected behavior.
    8. If Samsung Gallery still will not sync after reconnecting
      • Contact Samsung Customer Support from the device so they can review logs:
        • Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud > More options > Settings > Contact us > Error reports, and ensure Send system log data is enabled.
    9. As a fallback, manually upload missing photos
      • Open the OneDrive app on the phone.
      • Go to Files and browse to the desired folder (for example, Pictures/Camera Roll).
      • Use the + / Upload option to add the missing photos and videos from the device’s Gallery.
