    Hi @Primary Care Associates,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

For Business accounts, these accounts are typically set up and managed by the tenant administrator (most likely the organization’s IT department).

In this case, I recommend that you contact your organization’s IT department as soon as possible and provide them with the following information:

1/ Request them to block sign-in for your account to protect tenant data

    Step 1: Go to admin.microsoft.com

Step 2: Select Users > Active users > Your account name

    Step 3: Select Block sign-in

At this point, your account will be completely blocked and inaccessible.

2/ Reset MFA for your account

Please provide the IT department with the following information:

Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…

3/ Check sign-in logs to determine whether the account has been accessed from an unknown location

    Step 1: Go to entra.microsoft.com

Step 2: Select Users > All users > Your account name

Step 3: Select Sign-in logs and review the sign-in activity

    User's image

After the IT department completes the above steps and confirms that the account is secure through the sign-in logs, they will unblock your account so you can use it normally again.

If you are the only admin of the tenant, please let me know so I can assist you in finding an appropriate solution.

For an Outlook on the web for business mailbox that was hacked and where messages were deleted or the mailbox was replaced, recovery depends on whether the items are still within the service’s retention/recovery period and whether the mailbox itself still exists.

To try to recover deleted mail from Outlook on the web (work or school account):

    1. Sign in to Outlook on the web with the affected business account (if it still exists).
    2. In the left pane, select Deleted Items.
    3. If the messages are still there, select the items to restore and move them back to Inbox or another folder using Move on the ribbon.
    4. If the messages are not in Deleted Items, look in the Recoverable Items folder:
      • With Deleted Items selected, at the top of the message list select Recover items deleted from this folder.
      • In the Recoverable Items view, select the messages that need to be restored.
      • Select Restore.

Notes and limits relevant to recovery:

    • Items removed from Deleted Items are only recoverable for a limited time (the context describes 30 days for Outlook.com/Outlook on the web consumer; business tenants often have similar or admin‑configured retention, but recovery is only possible while items are still in the Recoverable Items store).
    • If the deleted messages do not appear in Deleted Items or Recoverable Items, they have likely been permanently removed and cannot be restored from the client side.
    • Recovered items are restored to their original folders when possible; if the original folder no longer exists, messages go to Inbox.

Because the account was hacked and the mailbox may have been replaced or deleted, an administrator for the Microsoft 365 tenant should also:

    • Verify whether the mailbox still exists or was deleted/replaced at the tenant level.
    • If the mailbox was recently deleted, attempt mailbox recovery from the Microsoft 365 admin center or via PowerShell (within the tenant’s soft‑delete retention window).
    • If the attacker changed aliases or sign‑in details, follow the compromised-account recovery guidance to secure the account first, then attempt mailbox and item recovery.

If the account or mailbox cannot be recovered via the standard Microsoft account recovery and admin tools, and the messages are no longer in Deleted Items or Recoverable Items, there is no end‑user method to regain access to those deleted emails.
