I keep getting questions I do not understand, trying to keep my Outlook running. I need human help to get back online with Outlook. It took us 1 week for my wife's phone and finally got it by mistake. Cannot remember the steps.

Don't know what "tags" is so I cannot use it.

Hello, I’m Virginia a fellow Windows & iPhone user.

Are you using the outlook app, outlook via a browser or the inbuilt email app?

Are you trying to set up a Microsoft account or a different account?

    What questions are showing onscreen?

There’s an outage with outlook accounts at the moment on Apple devices which is affecting authentication.

Follow these steps to get simple, human help and get Outlook working on the iPhone 16.

    1. Use the Outlook app made for iPhone
    • For the easiest setup, use the Outlook for iOS mobile app, not the built‑in Apple Mail app.
    • On the iPhone, open the App Store, search for “Microsoft Outlook”, and install it.
    1. If Outlook is already installed but not working
    • Open the Outlook app on the iPhone.
    • If email is not syncing or sign‑in keeps failing, use the in‑app support to chat with a person:
      1. In Outlook, open the menu and go to Help or Settings → Help & Feedback.
      2. Choose Contact Support or similar.
      3. This opens an in‑app chat where a support agent can walk through the steps.
    1. If Outlook.com (Hotmail, Live, MSN) is the email
    • First, check that Outlook.com is working normally by looking at the server status of Outlook.com (link is in the article below).
    • If Outlook.com is fine but the iPhone still has problems, use the Troubleshoot email setup on mobile guide for step‑by‑step checks.
    1. If using the Apple Mail app instead of Outlook
    • Microsoft recommends using the Outlook app for the best experience.
    • If staying with Apple Mail and there are setup problems, contact Apple Support for help with the Mail app.
    1. If this is a work or school account
    • If the email address is from work or school (Microsoft 365 or Exchange), contact the Microsoft 365 admin or technical support at that organization. They may need to adjust settings.
    1. If direct human help is needed by phone or chat
    • For personal (home) Outlook or Outlook.com accounts, contact Microsoft support using the “contact support” options in the articles below, or use the in‑app Contact Support in Outlook for iOS.

These options give access to a real support person who can guide step‑by‑step on the iPhone.
