Because the device is locked and there are no login credentials, use a full reset/recovery to return the Surface Pro to factory condition. This will erase all existing data and accounts on the device.

    Follow one of these paths:

    1. Reset from Windows (only if it ever lets you reach the sign‑in screen)
    2. On the keyboard, press Windows logo key + L to go to the lock screen (if needed).
    3. On the sign‑in screen, hold Shift and select Power > Restart in the lower‑right corner.
    4. After restart, on the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
    5. Choose Remove everything to wipe all data and accounts.
    6. Select Cloud download (recommended, requires internet) or Local reinstall and follow the prompts.
    7. If Windows will not start or reset keeps failing

Use a Surface USB recovery drive to reinstall Windows. This returns the device to factory condition, deletes all personal files, resets settings, and removes all apps:

    1. On another PC, follow the steps in Creating and using a Surface USB recovery drive to create a recovery USB.
    2. Connect the recovery USB to the Surface Pro.
    3. Boot from the USB and follow the on‑screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

If BitLocker is enabled and a BitLocker recovery key is requested during recovery, that key must be provided. If the key cannot be found using the guidance in Find my BitLocker recovery key, the only option is to fully reset/reinstall Windows using a recovery image, which will result in data loss.
