I just paid for a subscription to Microsoft 365 for a job that I need Powerpoint, Excel and Docs. It's saying my Mac OS version 11.7.11 is too old to support the current version. I really need this. Do you have any advice on what to do? If not, how do I request a refund. I need this resolved as soon as possible as I am scheduled to start using those programs tomorrow. Please help!

    Hii,

Currently, you can install Office 2019/2021 or 365 compatible with macOS 11 big sur using the link below:

    https://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/C1297A47-86C4-4C1F-97FA-950631F94777/MacAutoupdate/Microsoft_365_and_Office_16.77.23091003_Installer.pkg

Please remember that this version is no longer supported and that newer versions will not be compatible with your macOS due to the end of the support cycle.

macOS 11.7.11 (Big Sur) is older than the versions required by the latest Microsoft 365 for Mac apps, so the current installer will not run. There are two practical options:

    1. Try to upgrade macOS
Check in Apple menu → System Preferences → Software Update whether the Mac can be upgraded to a newer macOS version that is supported by the latest Microsoft 365 for Mac. If an upgrade is available and installed, the standard Microsoft 365 install flow can then be used as described in Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac.
    2. Install the most recent Office version that works on older macOS
When macOS cannot be upgraded further, the subscription still allows activation of an older Office for Mac build that supports older systems. For example, for macOS 12.7.6 (Monterey) the last supported Office version is 16.88, which can be downloaded from the Office for Mac update history page and then activated with the Microsoft 365 subscription. The same approach applies on older macOS: install the last Office build that supports the OS, then sign in with the subscribed Microsoft account to activate. After installing that build, run Help → Check for Updates once to move to the final supported build for that version.

If neither upgrading macOS nor using the last compatible Office build is acceptable for the job requirements, the next step is to contact the store or service where the Microsoft 365 subscription was purchased (for example, Microsoft account portal or Apple App Store) and request billing or refund assistance through their support channel, as refunds are handled by the seller rather than through the Office apps themselves.

Note that if macOS remains on an unsupported version, Office apps will continue to work but will not receive new updates or security fixes once that macOS version falls out of support.
