Compromised Microsoft account — alias changed, can't recover via self-service

My Microsoft account (originally signed in with a Gmail address) was compromised. The attacker added their own identity verification method and appears to have changed the account's sign-in alias. I can no longer sign in, and self-service tools (sign-in page, acsr recovery form) say the account "doesn't exist" when I search by my original email. Verification codes to my recovery email also aren't arriving, and I don't have a phone number available to use (mine is linked to a different account). I've submitted what I could through the recovery form already. Is there a way to get this escalated to a live account recovery specialist?

Hello Octavious Bear,

I’m sorry to hear that happened. Since the account's sign-in alias and security information appear to have been changed, the best next step is to contact Microsoft Support directly for guidance on the available recovery options.

Unfortunately, as fellow users on this public forum, contributors cannot access accounts or escalate recovery cases internally.

You can try the following steps to reach live chat support:

1, Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support

2, In the search bar provided on the page, type "Account recovery" and press Enter.

3, Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.

4, Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.

5, When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".

6, For the category, choose "Manage account security".

7, Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".

8, Confirm your personal email when prompted - this is the email Microsoft will use to communicate with you during and after the support session.

9, When connected, clearly explain your situation. Be concise but include all relevant details.

You can also start from the official hacked-account recovery page here: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account.

Please keep in mind that support agents must follow account security verification rules and may not be able to manually bypass the recovery system. However, live chat is still the right channel to ask if an additional account security review option is available for your case.

I hope the support agent can review the available options for this account.
