Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hi @Connie
If you accidentally purchased a Microsoft 365 for business subscription, you can cancel it through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Based on Cancel your Microsoft business subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center, the refund/cancellation options depend on your billing account type:
- MOSA billing account: If you cancel after starting or renewing the subscription, Microsoft states that you receive a prorated credit or refund. For subscriptions with 25 or fewer licenses, you can cancel directly from the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- MCA billing account: You can cancel and receive a prorated credit or refund only if you cancel within 7 days after the subscription starts or renews. After that period, you can only turn off recurring billing.
- If you purchased the subscription through a Microsoft partner/reseller, contact the seller or partner. For MCA subscriptions purchased through a partner, Microsoft states that cancellation with a prorated refund is available within 7 days.
To cancel, go to the Microsoft 365 admin center > Billing > Your products, select the subscription, and choose Cancel subscription. The exact options shown depend on your billing account type.
Since you purchased the business subscription by mistake, I would recommend checking the cancellation/refund option in the Microsoft 365 admin center first. If you need further assistance, you can then select Contact support from the admin center to submit a support request with the Billing team, who can review your purchase and advise on the refund options available.
