I currently have 2 folders and 4 contacts folders - see pic.

I ONLY want the Main Contacts folder to sync with my phone.
I've made sure to UN-tick "Show this folder as an email address book" for all 3 OLD contacts.
The 3 OLD contact folders are STILL syncing in my phone.
Please help - how can I get them to NOT sync to my phone.

Outlook for Android does not provide a setting to choose specific Outlook contact subfolders to sync to the Android Contacts app. The supported control is account-level Sync Contacts.

Try these checks in Outlook for Android:

    1. Open Outlook > Settings.
    2. Under Accounts, tap the account.
    3. Make sure Sync Contacts is set the way intended.
      • If the goal is to stop Outlook contacts from appearing in the phone Contacts app, turn Sync Contacts off.
    4. If Sync Contacts is disabled and cannot be changed, enable Android Auto sync data in system Accounts settings, then check again.

If contacts are still appearing unexpectedly:

    1. In Outlook > Settings > tap the affected account > Reset Account.
    2. If that does not help, go to Settings > tap the account > Delete Account > Delete From This Device.
    3. Re-add the account and verify the account is added as Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync, not IMAP.

Important limits from the documented behavior:

    • Outlook for Android syncs contacts to the device at the account level.
    • Contacts stored locally on the phone can also appear in Outlook under People.
    • The provided guidance does not include a supported way to exclude only selected contact folders while syncing the main Contacts folder.
