We need to speak to a live technician. No family member can download Microsoft office on the family plan except the main subscriber. None of us can get hold of a live technician. No point in having something that doesn't work.

HOW TO REACH A LIVE TECHNICIAN AND AVOID BUSY WORK ASKING QUESTIONS TO COMPUTERS

Use Microsoft Support through Get Help or the Contact Support flow. For Microsoft 365 Family subscription issues, the supported path is:

    1. Open Get Help on Windows, or go to Get Help on the web.
    2. Describe the issue.
    3. Select Contact Support.
    4. Choose Microsoft 365 and Office.
    5. Choose the subscription or install-related category.
    6. Continue through the prompts to connect to support. Available options can include chat with an agent or request a call back.

If the issue is specifically that only the main subscriber can install Microsoft 365, each family member should first verify:

    1. They are still part of the family group.
    2. Their subscription access appears on their Microsoft account services page.
    3. They are signed in with the correct Microsoft account in the Microsoft 365 apps.
    4. In an Office app, go to File > Account > Update License.
    5. If needed, remove the affected member from the family group and send a new invite.

If sign-in is failing, use the sign-in helper first. Microsoft states that support agents cannot send password reset links or directly change account details.

For Office install problems on Windows, the Microsoft 365 setup troubleshooter is also available. It runs through Get Help and can help install Microsoft 365, Office 2021, Office 2019, or Office 2016. It requires Windows 10 or later and must be run on the same PC where Office is being installed.
