Common Language Runtime non collega alcuna semantica a questo attributo. Viene fornito per l'uso da parte dei debugger del codice sorgente. Ad esempio, il debugger Visual Studio 2005 non si arresta in un metodo contrassegnato con questo attributo e non consente l'impostazione di un punto di interruzione nel metodo . Altri attributi del debugger riconosciuti dal debugger Visual Studio 2005 sono il DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute e il DebuggerStepThroughAttribute.
