Se l'oggetto AssemblyInformationalVersionAttribute non viene applicato a un assembly, viene invece utilizzato il numero di versione specificato dall'attributo AssemblyVersionAttribute .
Sebbene sia possibile specificare qualsiasi testo, viene visualizzato un messaggio di avviso nella compilazione se la stringa non è nel formato utilizzato dal numero di versione dell'assembly o se è in tale formato ma contiene caratteri jolly. Questo avviso è innocuo.
Per Windows Forms app, è possibile ottenere la stringa specificata da questo attributo in fase di esecuzione usando la proprietà Application.ProductVersion. La stringa viene usata anche nel percorso e nella chiave del Registro di sistema fornita dalla Application.UserAppDataPath proprietà e dalla Application.UserAppDataRegistry proprietà .
